Damuth Trane hosted an employee event today in celebration of the 45th annual Earth Day. A group of associates participated in "The Dirty Sock" contest to determine who had the most environmentally friendly automobile. According to the US Environmental Protection Agency, more than half of the air pollution in the nation is caused by mobile sources, primarily automobiles. Participants put a clean white sock on their vehicle's tailpipe and ran the engine for 30 seconds with slight pressure on the accelerator. The person with the dirtiest sock was awarded a $100 gift certificate to West Service Center to be used towards a tune-up. And, the person with the cleanest sock was awarded a $100 gift card for keeping their vehicle well maintained which can help minimize emissions. Damuth Trane also hosted a recycling event for unwanted electronics. Another way to celebrate Earth Day by not sending these items to the landfill.
