Jobie Walker, Technical Center of Excellence for Damuth Trane’s Service Team, is celebrating his 20th anniversary with the company this month. After installing several Trane units and working alongside Damuth Technicians at his previous job, Jobie was convinced to seek out a position at Damuth Trane after hearing about the training, benefits, family atmosphere, and great associates the company offered. He joined Damuth Trane as a Service Technician in 2002 and was later promoted to his current role in 2015.
As the Technical Center of Excellence for the Service Team, Jobie’s role is to provide clients with a quality product and technical service delivered in the most efficient manner. He is responsible for evaluating service-training needs, maintaining technical standards, providing technical support with a focus on field operations, and developing technical training programs for internal and external clients. Additionally, Jobie provides job planning and estimating support to Damuth’s Team Leaders, Sales Team, and Service Coordinators.
With over 27 years of industry experience, Jobie is truly an expert in his field. He holds a Virginia Master HVAC License, Universal Refrigerant Certification, and has also completed countless trainings on ABB Drives, Mitsubishi Electric Trane U.S. (METUS) VRF Systems and Trane equipment, including IntelliPak Rooftop Systems, Centravac and Rotary Chillers. As the primary contact for technical expertise for Damuth’s associates, clients, and Trane Service Representatives, Jobie is always learning something new to keep up to date on the HVAC industry.
Bob Gunderson, Service Operations Team Leader said of Jobie: “Jobie Walker has been a tremendous asset to our organization since he arrived 20 years ago. Many of our Service Technicians can attribute their training and education to him, along with several of our clients as well. Jobie’s technical knowledge and expertise are unmatched – we are proud to have him represent Damuth Trane as the ‘brains’ of our Service Team. He is always willing to mentor, share his wisdom with others, and lend a helping hand to others.”
Jobie and his wife Sally live in Norfolk with their son Maximus who will be heading to college at Old Dominion University this fall. In his free time, Jobie enjoys fishing, hunting, time with family and volunteering for local little leagues as an umpire and coach. Reflecting on his anniversary with the company, Jobie expressed: “We are all challenged with life lessons every day. How you respond, adapt, and overcome those challenges will help you grow or fail, personally and professionally. 20 years ago, I was faced with a decision to apply for a Service Technician position here. Damuth Trane’s shared values culture has helped me adapt, overcome, grow personally and professionally, and to challenge others to do the same. Now, being a 20-year associate, it was and is the best career decision I’ve ever made.”
Congratulations, Jobie! Damuth appreciates your 20 years of service.
