Steve Novak Retires from Trane

September 12, 2024

Steve Novak, Materials Specialist for Trane Chesapeake’s Contracting BAS Team, will retire on Friday, September 13.

Before joining Trane, Steve served in the U.S. Navy for 26 years and spent time working in the aviation industry for various government contractors after his service. Desiring a fresh start in his career, Steve joined Damuth Trane (now Trane Chesapeake) in 2014 working in Buildings & Grounds before moving into his current role in December of 2016.

As a Materials Specialist, Steve was responsible for meeting customer needs and commitments through job costing and administration of material orders and invoices for all contracting projects. He assisted Trane’s engineer team by processing vendor orders – from negotiating pricing through invoicing and payment of goods purchased. Steve also managed warehouse duties such as inventory, receiving orders and handling return authorizations, ensuring cleanliness and safety in the warehouse at all times.

Cliff Fuqua III, P.E., LEED AP, BAS Engineering Team Leader, said of Steve: “Steve has been a huge asset to the Contracting Team for over 10 years.  You would be hard-pressed to find anyone in the department that doesn’t have a story of Steve helping them out of a situation to keep a project moving and meet deadlines. On top of his hard work and dedication to the position, Steve is an amazing person that we will all sorely miss!”

Steve and his wife of 41 years, Amy, reside in Chesapeake, Virginia. They have two adult children together and actively serve in the Cluster Parishes of Chesapeake and Portsmouth. Steve shared that after retirement, he’s looking forward to quality time spent with his wife and children and doing plenty of traveling, both overseas and domestically to visit friends and family. On his time with the company, Steve expressed: “It’s been a real pleasure working for the Damuth family the last ten years, I’ve been treated outstanding – my only regret is not finding this company sooner!”

Congratulations, Steve! Best wishes in your retirement from your Trane Family.
